I've just returned from a week 'down home' and managed a couple of evenings at Stithians. Weather conditions were not ideal, a cold breeze and heavy mist on the first evening and similar on the second.
However, despite the wind not being in my favoured direction I found numbers of fish along the bank from the water sports bay and in the shelter of Yellow Worts. Dry sedge patterns, small buzzers and a Welsh Partridge accounted for some good fish up to 3lb - with a number of fish coming unstuck in the weed.
I've fished Stithians since 1968, now unfortunately only a couple of times a year, and it's fascinating to see how the water has and is changing over the years. I was surprised by the weed growth and how silty some bank sections are now that were 'hard standing' in previous years.
