Has anyone fished stowting lately? any info?

Had a days fishing at stowting, had mixed feelings about the place, the setting/scenery is superb...but over the course of the day 10-12 people fished and all but myself and one other were using sight indicators as floats, personally lm not a great lover of this method, is it really fly fishing?
