Default The Loch

Jim i was up the one of the Quiechs just last we month and it was teeming with fingerlings ang small fish for about a mile. Last week i was fishing on the loch and i lost count the number of small fish form about 3 inches to about 6 inches i rose and caught. During a cracking hatch of curlybums on the same evening you see hundreds of small fish rising in the slicks and that was just in one part of the 3500 acres that is Loch Leven so i believe that everything is going well just as long it continues in the same vane as it is now. I do believe that the Loch is getting back to its best and i believe that this is because it has been left to it own devices and develope naturaly. Regulars and i do mean regulars will tell you i think the same story as i have because they have been there done that and got the pictures.

Graeme.

I am truly glad to hear it Graeme. I still think there is a fair way to go and that there is still a need for careful thought before every fish caught is hit on the head. (I know you dont hit many so dont worry) . Give it a couple more years and I think we can say the loch has turned the corner. It is really great that it is fishing so well, I hope it continues and we see the loch back to some thing like its best. jim

I'm fishing the loch on Thursday too, from 2pm onwards. Last time I was there (last week) you couldn't go wrong with kates on Di3/intermediate. Got them on dries late on too. But ask the boatman before you go out for the up to date info. Tightlines!

Heading to The Loch on Saturday for my annual visit. (I know, I know, I should go more often - maybe next year....)

However, if anyone can give me any pointers on how it's fishing and a clue about flies or areas then that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Clarity has dropped back to just under 2 metres and fly life less prolific. Still some good baskets coming off if the method is right at the time, most anglers coming off with plenty bumps and knocks, a few hook ups but not many to the net. Buzzer tactics still working but seems to be in brighter calm conditions. Best other option is pulling traditionals or mini lures fast. Fish still well spread around the loch, Any of the deeps to the shallower water around them will work. Check at the pier before you go out for an update.

Thanks again for your help. I managed to tempt a couple of nice fish on a silver sparkler roly polyed fast on a Di5 (10 count). Both fish in the green isle area, 1 just south of the isle and the other a couple of hundred yards to the east. Moved 2 other fish and that was it for the day. My BP Eric hooked briefly a fish that looked to me to be 3lb plus as it jumped and spat the hook.

Regards,
