Willowgate Fishery - Perth
Fishing during the day has been challenging at times as a result of the hot, sunny weather but there has been an astonishing amount of fly life around (including some Mayflies) and the evening rise has been spectacular.
In the hottest and brightest part of the days, anglers have been finding sport with goldhead damsels on a long leader or leaded blobs under the bung. Whenever there is some cloud cover however, top of the water tactics have been to the fore with many anglers having great sport with CDC shuttlecocks and other small dries.
Recent catches include;
Dean Demambro weighed in 2 for 10lbs and had 18 on catch & release including a personal best 12 pounder. Scott Young had 2 fish for 10.5lb including one at 7.5lb. Mick Leo had 20 on catch & release and the Vale Angling Club had 26 fish for 57lbs in very difficult conditions on Saturday.
From Wednesday 26th May, the evening fishing will be extended to 10.00pm (Wednesday to Sunday) and the cost of a four hour catch & release ticket will cost £10 (evening only).
Willowgate is one of the venues for the MacMillan Cancer Support 'Big Fish' competition which takes place on Saturday 12th June. To book a place, contact the fishery on 01738 446546.
