Default Elinor advise please for new fly fisher

Hi guys next week i will be driving up to Elinor in Kettering, i have just started in this wonderful experience, i have fished a small stillwater locally and been catching fish on deep fished lure.
Line is a floating line, with 5ft tapered leader, attached to this i have been using a 10ft tippet of 5lb, this is my sole experience of fly fishing so far.
I have been reading a bit here about "blobs", can i fish them singularly on the point, not confident enough yet to team them up with anything else at the moment, dont want to spend the day removing tangles.

Thanks

A single fly on a long leader can be as deadly as a team.

Blob, Humungus, Cats Whisker, Black Cat, whatever, give them all a go.

If using a tapered leader, try a 9ft or 12ft one that tapers down to 8lb and use a 6lb tippet of around 3 or 4ft, or one that tapers down to 6lb with same length of tippet of 5lb.

As you are still learning, try and get the wind behind you, or if right handed get where the wind is coming from left to right, or opposite if you are left handed.

My fave spots are the dam at the bottom end, the bank just before the boats and the point just after the boats.

Ed Foster the owner is a top bloke and will also point you in the right direction.

The Pirate.

Floating line is all you need at Elinor. As Stewart says, ask Ed or Mick, the bloke in the hut, what is working and where is best.

You do need at least wellies if bank fishing as you have to get past rushes onto the gravel. 12 ft leader single fly is fine. I would recommend 8lbs fluoro as there are lots of big fish and they go well.

Orange blob, damsel, white lure, diawl bachs, buzzers would be my top five there.

Keep moving and look for others catching - it is quite a big lake and the fish tend to be shoaled in areas.
