I fished Eyebrook yesterday - my first ever visit to the water even though it's only 45 minutes to an hour away. A North Eastery wind was creating some whitecaps when I arrived and the wind carried a cold edge throughout the day particularly when the sun was obscured by cloud.
During the morning we fished with small lures on sinking lines and my boat partner quickly got amongst the fish, notching up three or four while all I could muster was one 'early release' an a few tentative pulls.
Mid afternoon was very quiet with no amount of location, line and fly changes creating any interest but the wind dropped in the early evening and the change brought some good surface activity with fish readily taking small buzzers just under the surface. The quality of the fish was very good and I finished with 8 fish for a few ounces under 21lb.
I'll be back!
