Talking VERY rare occation where I'd direct a new poster to the search function above.

But this is one of those specific times where I know there's been lots of posts on this particular place. Click on the search button above (right next to the 'new posts' one), type in whiteadder reservior, click 'search' and you'll pull up tons of post covering this water.

May almost be 'too much of a good thing.'

Was fishing it one miserable wet and windy day a good few years ago now and decided to change banks. Whilst walking along the road to cross the burn a Saab pulls up, down goes the window with the enquiry from the lady driver, "caught much". Nothing much worth keeping so far says I. Clarissa Dickson-Wright of all people. No idea she stayed in area. Tightlines she bids and drives off.
I trudge on the road and splash through a muddle puddle on the road, next thing I am flat on my copoun in the ******* thing, stood in a big bloody pot hole I couldn't see for the colour of the water!
Scuffed hands but rod was okay and i couldn't have got much wetter anyway.

Happy days.

The fishing is 'run' by the sailing club that operates on the reservoir these days.

You can fish from the bank or hire a boat (bring your own outboard) from the sailing club.

There is a ticket machine at the boat lodge. £6 or £7 for bank and IIRC £20 for a boat for the day.

It is no longer stocked and so only has the resident browns. I've fished it for the last few years and had some great days.

However, for whatever reason, I had a miserable time there last year and never touched a fish nor saw any rises the few times I was down.

Take something to keep you warm!
