Default New Farmoor 2 record brown.

For some reason best known only to themselves Thames Water appear very reluctant to publicise the new brown trout record off F2. Apparently it was caught about ten days ago and weighed 17lbs 8oz. This beats the previous best by 3lb 4oz so it is some capture. Details on how it was caught are not available, though apparantly there are photos in the fishery lodge, but not in the wider world.

I seem to recall a few large browns from Chew last year and they got very prominent publicity, so why Thames are so reluctant is beyond me, unless of course they actually don't want more anglers through the gates.

Information Technology seems to have gone by the board a bit at Farmoor since Damien left. Note the daily catch data on TW website stuck on January 28th for six weeks before that item was deleted completely from there site. Last time I checked they had not put this years subscription prices in yet.
Perhaps the rangers can be forgiven as they are being pushed from pillar to post during the refurbishment of the "lodge". Still at least we can still fish, which is more than they can at Draycote. Both sides of Farmoor were fishing brilliant on my last visit the same weekend the big brown was caught. The bloke next to me on Farmoor 1 had 21fish and his pal returned 29 but don`t tell the rangers as you are sposed to call it a day after 15 !!!

Thumbs up

I was there on Sunday, and F2 fished brilliantly, never have seen the water so clear and the fish were just everywhere.

Saw the picture of the big brown in the lodge and its stunning, also the fish was returned.

I was just up the bank when a 17.5 lb brown was caught and released at Farmoor 1 - is this the fish you are talking about?

This record brown was definitely from Farmoor 1, not Farmoor 2.

All I heard was Farmoor, not which of the two lakes it was. It's still a very noteworthy capture and should be publicised as widely as possible to ensure fishing's future at the venue.

Slotto, there's no need for anyone to tell the rangers about people exceeding the catch limit on F1. You've already done it, or didn't you know they read this forum as well?

Even at 20 quid for a day's fishing people still feel the need to cheat - a sad reflection on today's anglers. Speaking of which I found some empty and crushed beer cans on F1 yesterday 20 yards from a waste bin which the person had to walk past on their way back to their car. Perhaps this person will be happy when the reservoir is closed due to litter vandalism.

Yep, the big brown was caught and returned to Farmoor 1. From the pics in the lodge it looks like it was caught between the water pipes on the north bank and the section of fencing on the NW corner.

I fished F1 last week with my brother and had 10 between us including two 4lb to 5lb blue's which where great fun to get in the net. The water was very clear and during a calm spell I spotted a very big brown cruising the edge of the weed bed, I would have put it at 12-15lb, might be the same fella.
