Default Coltsford Mill 17/4/10

A late afternoon evening session. With bright sun and little breeze we thought it might be tough. After a slow start with nothing to show to either myself or my mate we thought it might be a blank.
Moved about, fished both pools and the cascades without a look before we both moved into the corner nearest the first car park.Soon into a very decent fish which i managed to loose and my mate had a quick fish as well.Had lots of taps and plucks before landing a nice rainbow of 8-3 on a slowly fished white fritz.
Continued with more taps and plucks and managed to loose another three very decent fish.My mate had another on white cats and i then landed a blue of around 3lb on a black and green montana type job.
Some very big fish stocked-up to around 12lb mark and a nice brown came out of around 7lb.
With two fish of over 8lb in the last 10 days,i'm a happy chappie

Well done, it can have its days up there, last time I went it was a really blowy day and I struggled until late afternoon then managed to winkle one out on an orange frizt. Only problem I find with the place is that smashing little tacke shop which always seems to have something I need in a sale!!

All the best

I'm fine Chub1, Coltsfords a bit different to New Zealand isn't it!

Not a regular up there, probably 5/6 times a year, give it a wide berth when the weather hots up is my experience, also found that sometimes they are really close in, but they do put up a show when you get one on. Usually go in the week as find it can get bit packed at the weekend. Keep an eye on their website, there is a club there and i suspect the stocking goes up when they have a match, so straight afterwards can be productive.

You are dead right. They put some massive fish in on saturday evening as they had a 'big fish' club day on sunday,so there should be some biggies left swimming around

Well according to the website the big fish weekend is another week away, as you were there I believe you!

I might well slip up there Firiday late afternoon/evening, get myself a 2 fish ticket and see how it is, depends on the weather really, if it is windy and an easterly certainly wont bother.
