Hey

I'm going to loch earn on Monday. I have never fished the loch before and will be fishing from the bank. What flies did you use and where about did you fish. Thanks for any information.

South Shore, parked my car just before the bridge. intermediate line, nymphs. Fish mainly at the bottom when cold.

was up today and i think someone has cut the nets at the fish farm. Between me and my brother (who was fishing maggots or worms and he doesnt fly fish) we had about 40/50 fish, all at the 1lb mark and all rainbows. Was good sport on the fly and the weather was smashing.

Folk next to us spinning probably had double what we had.

I guess the fish were taking any fly that was cast out in front of them.

Default cut nets

I take it the place will be packed at the week end.
I was talking to another guy fishing who told me that the nets had been lying empty last year and had been used for Tesco etc to provide them with fish and not to stock the Loch.
He also told me that the water had a blue tinge to it last year. I fish it quite regular and didnt notice anything.

Its packed every weekend with all the neds who just go up camp, fish and drink. Would never go up there at the weekend due to these people. They have there dance/trance/**** music blarring and you can hear it from the opposite bank. Not a pleasant place at the weekend.

Dont know about the nets. About two years ago I was fishing up there and caught on virtually every cast and they were approx 4 inchs in length. They may be empty now, but catching so many fish today suggests that the nets were cut. Speaking to the gillie, he did say it was stalked with 2000 fish on Friday.

Was a good day, even taught my bro how to fly fish and got him hooked

Mainly wee nympths, but i did get them on lures which was fun watching the bow wave behind, stopping my retrieve and then bang.

Sounds like a good bit of sport ftb,if it was stalked with 2000 fish recently there wont be many left with all the neds partying up their at the weekend
How much does it cost for a days fishing.

As Loch Earn is not an enclosed water they are not allowed to stock with rainbows any rainbows in the Loch are escapees. They pollute the Earn and endanger the indigenous stock Hopefully the weekend party goers will remove them in short time....
