Default Syon Park

First time there today. I wanted to see what it was like. Lovely surroundings. Met someone on the way out with 4 which she got on a...yes, blue flash damsel.
Started off with a black and orange montana but nothing so switched to a blue flash damsel and got 2. Moved back to the bridge and got another on the BFD. Changed to a Cat's Whisker Nugget, nothing, then a Black & orange Buzzer as they were feeding off buzzers just below the surface - still nothing. Switched back to the BFD and yup, got another just under 3lb. First time catching 4 in one day. If I go back I'll try something other than the BFD but they definitely work.
All were between 2 and 3 lbs. Going to try Walthamstow next week as havent been there either and I fancy trying my luck.

Ha, you could not get two waters farther apart than Syon and Wally, not geographically but in almost every other way................................

Try Halliford Mere, a bit more like Syon but better value and you can fish all day.

Well done.I will echo Charlie,try Halliford.Fished there today for 10 fish to 8lb plus.Only £20.
The Albury waters are all nice places, that includes Syon, however they are getting very very pricey for 4 fish.

Hi Chub - what were you usuing @ Halliford if you don't mind sharing

Been there recently, and am going back next week. Past 2 visits I've been getting some follows/fish on GRHE & Cats Whisker but nothing like you!

Hi Ealing.
Try buzzers or apps and buzzer combo. The fish were quite deep-around 8/9 feet down and on the point they were very close in,ie under the rod top although we did have fish from way out as well.Just let the flies swing round in any breeze or slow figure eight back.We used an indicator, however its only an option and it works sometimes.
I don't usually fish lures there, however i did yesterday and it worked well.White fritz fished very slowly did the damage, had masses of taps and snatches as well.
Good spots are to right of club house, far right hand corner corner and swims opposite club house. The point is a good bet,you can cover lots of water there and by the cages.Don't be afraid to fish tight to the banks as the fish are often very close in.Let us know how you get on please

Ealing92, Haliford is one of those fisheries which tactics change from day to day. One day it can be be a red letter day like myself and Chub1 had on Saturday, the next day with the same flies, you catch nothing. One tip, if what you are using isn't working, change flies often and also where you are fishing. Haliford is tough but it makes you think. I'd rather fish there and catch nothing (& I have have on many visits) than catch a sack full and learn nothing like what you can do at Syon.

Get there as much as poss but it usually involves a significant cash pay off to the missus in exchange for a day's fishing!

Flybysage - Completely agree with your sentiments about how challenging Halliford can be. Friday should be my 10th visit this year and so far have had 8 blanks but love fishing there and love the challenge. going to start @ one end of the fly box and work my way through and keep my fingers crossed!
