Hi Neil

Went for the first time on Saturday

Just for an hour or so as I took my 6 year old and his limited attention span.

Took one full finned 3lb rainbow and lost one other. White lure, floating line, just a foot under the surface, it was a really strong fish.

The big problem is the "duck" feeders. They end up feeding the trout into a frenzy despite all the warning signs not too....... Not surprisingly those fish then aren't interested in anything else

Its a real shame, all the staff and wardens are aware, but can't be there full time....

hi, i fished at the weekend with a few mates, we flogged hard alk morning for a couple of fish, then decided to relax in the afternoon and fished bung and buzzer a few rod lengths out and had HEAPS of takes.
theres is a big problem with the duck (trout) feeders. I confronted half a dozen of them on the bridge, and most were fairly obliging and apologetic.
apparently the fishery is being restocked at some point this week.

19 anglers fished it - rod average just under 3. It was fished to a 3 fish weigh in. Winner had 3 fish for 16lb. Including one of 12lb 8oz. 2nd and 3rd also had big fish in te bag - one of 12lb 4oz and another of 11lb 13oz. Think everyone enjoyed the day - and there were prizes down to 10th pot. Fishing was not easy, but produced a close comp, 4 blanked, inc me

methods varied from pulled lure, through to slow moved boobies and some caught on nymphs. We also had a club comp the week after the open - rod avg in that was 8.8. Mostly caught on buzzers

not all the fish, in there, just go for anything white

Thanks

merv

I fished it last week and as it was my first ever fly fishing session I unsurprisingly caught no trout!! However I did catch a couple of perch which kept me keen!!

Has anyone else fished it lately? I would really appreciate advice about flies etc

thought i would go back to barton today to give another go, managed 8 in total mainly on buzzers mid afternoon and when sun came out they went deep and i went onto a sinking line and had 4 more. the fish were just amazing condition and really hard fighters. best fish of the day just over 5lb safely returned. this place still needs work but looks like all the dog walker now give you a wider berth than a few years ago when they would stand chatting behind you. so come on who ever runs it a bit more feedback on your website you last updated it back in feb, this could be an amazing fishery with a little more effort and it will definatley give the ressie a run for their money when it comes to value for money
