Default Belston Loch

Hi guys/gals, i called into BELSTON LOCH on the way to AYR today and quite liked the look of it. There were guys out on the boat spinning it, 2guys with powerbait on the shore{ and one of them had a freezing can o lager in his hand ?} but friendly enuff and another guy fishing the fly. Never got to talk to the guy running it as he was on the boat but wouldnt mind trying it on the fly sometime. Any thoughts on how its fishing and is it worth a throw. Much obliged as im going in here totally blind.

Give me a shout when your going and I'll join you. I only noticed a sign for it the last few weeks and pass it every day (the sign that is) and am thinking of trying it out as well.

Never heard of anyone being aloud to spin from a boatleave the boats to the flyfisherman as all other fisheries do.

i fished it every saturday for years.to fly fish it you would need to wade a bit because of the trees or get a boat theres a beep chanel runs down it about 30 feet out that holds a lot of fish .its one of those places you either like it or you dont i will try and find out how it been fishing and let you know

Default Belston Loch

Just to give you guys a wee bit of info on Belston Loch.

The loch is part of Mauchline & Ballochmyle Angling Club. As it is a club loch we are able to put any takings back into the loch which allows us to stock regularly and with decent fish. The loch also holds a good head of fish that have been in a long time, some large rainbow and brown trout. It also has some pike which you are welcome to fish for. as the loch is a natural loch it provides excellent feeding for the fish which in turn leaves them in excellent condition.

We allow all kinds of legal fishing but no ground bating and no sweetcorn. The reason for this is to provide something for everyone from beginners to the fly fishing purists out there.

Everyone is welcome.

The loch has been fishing ok so far and has already been stocked twice. We have had two competitions so far, one open competition and one club comp. Both were won with a fish of over 4 and a half pounds.

The loch is open all year round and prices are as follows. All tickets are for the full day.

Club members - £10 - 4 fish Under 16's - £5 - 2 fish
Visitors - £14 - 4 fish Under 16's - £7 - 2 fish

Membership tickets are available for the loch only at £30.

Tickets are available from Vaneesas papershop on loudoun street - Mauchline or J&J Brown shop on Main Street -Ochiltree, Game Sport on Sandgate - Ayr or Drongan post office.

Boats are available at no charge and can be arranged through the club secretary.

We also welcome people to apply to join the club which then allows fishing on the river Ayr and Lugar water for brown trout, sea trout and salmon. All applications would need to be made in writing to the secretary unless you are a resident of Mauchline or Ochiltree.

Sorry if this is too much reading but hope i have provided the info you were all looking for. For any further info or contact telephone numbers please send me a pm.

Here is a pic of one of the bags of fish from one of this years competitions.
