Thanks for replying mate, sounds like you had a good day. Have you tried Avon Springs this year??
I like the place, but the owner can be a bit 'prickly' . . . . . . . . .

not tried avon yet..heard he can be a bit off...looks like a nice place..suppose the tacktics could be pay the miserable duffer and crack on..
Get to the stage that you have to concider tactics for owner and not fishing..

How did you get on JC? I've fished there a few times lately and had great sport every time. I'm actually due out there tomorrow and for the Troutmaster fish off for 2009 on Tuesday (need to get some practice in!!). There's some big fish in there but not many have come out lately. The past couple of months most of the action has been on the left hand bank with some on the first few pegs of the right hand bank (as you look from the lodge). I think, as it's warmed up of late that you can now catch from almost anywhere on the lake. Would be interested to hear how you got on and what worked for you? I've found lures (Cat's Whisker particularly) have been the best tactic of late as long as you let them sink then strip them back relatively quickly. You have to get them down though. Lately I'm beginning to think that smaller more natural looking flies is the way to go, again you need to get them deep to try and find the larger fish?

As for Avon Springs, both times I've tried to fish it this year it's been frozen. I've also heard that the owner can be somewhat 'funny' and it kind of puts me off to be honest. As Bobcat says, probably best to hand over the cash and beat a hasty retreat to your swim without entering into much discussion.....
