Default Wykeham Lakes - Ticket prices...

A word of warning - Wykeham's ticket prices are no longer as advertised on Fishing-Wykeham Lakes-Fact File. They appear to have a different pricing structure in place to that on the web.

According to the website 5 hrs sporting should be £12, or £16 for the full day.

This morning I was charged £15 for 4 hours sporting, accompanied by a 6 fish limit (a limit for catch & release, is this common?).

Lovely place, but worth ringing for clarification on cost...

(There is also a fishing section on the Estate website - Welcome to the Dawnay Estates but this is 'under construction').

I've never fished it yet, although it was on the "to-fish" list

It has just been taken off the list though, that price is ridiculous.

Much better value at other Yorkshire fisheries -

Marston Wyse,
Tanfield £14 full day - 4 fish then catch n release
Bellflask £20 ditto

They are the first fishery I know of up here that have introduced a "bag limit"

My advice - avoid like the plague......if they become successful, everyone will start doing it!

Seriously, there are better fisheries at much more reasonable cost, go there instead..

PS - Thanks for this - it has stopped me from going there!

I'm not trying to convince people not to go, just think they should know what to expect...

I've been fishing Maran a lot, personally I prefer it because of the choice of lakes - each one is like a different fishery...

Eye Bruce will be the one hiding behind a mushroom---- i think they call them knomes ??

There's a few fisheries kicking about that operate a limit on c+r....... however 6 fish limit on c+r for £15 seems a bit steep.......... the norm limit is usually around 12.

Tanfield is a wonderful fishery, however it's spoilt by the sound of priests at work all the time......................... it drives me MAD....... echoing around the entire lake......... i've fished there for many many years and it never changes.

A limit on C&R .
I cant believe the canny Yorkshire anglers will fall for that one.
From my own point of view I prefer to fish C&R, dont mind taking (and paying for) the odd fish to keep the stock tunring over.
However a 2 hour drive each way just to catch 6 fish will put me off totally.
Small waters are struggling enough at the moment, does someone want to syndicate this one I suspect?

This fishery (in my opinion) is just simply a rip of the price now for a sporting ticket £25 the price of £18 for one fish NO CATCH AND RELISE is pure greed the gent with the tash stated he calculates 20% of fish die from bad angler handling so he would be out of pocket so that justifies the £25 price and the £18 one fish is great value for money and lots of anglers want to pay the travel costs to come to his lake have maybe 10 casts catch a fish then pack up and go home, Well not me i walked away ( seemed to realy upset the owner ) and went to another fishery carnt remember its name its on the weatherby road and had a great day taking a 6lb fish and reliesing 6 others
Wykeham another fishery that has out priced itself i feel.
i will never darken its expensive doorstep again.
i wounderd why there was only 1 car in the carpark then i read the price list and realised why.

Marston Wyse is the name of the lakes i went to.
