There's some early reports here:
blithefield

However, I was in Archline Angling in Cannock a couple of hours ago and they told me they have an open day/promotion event there on Saturday - demos, pike FF demo, Hardy gear to try out etc. Not sure if I can get a pass out, hopefully so, anyone else going?

Bl**dy cold wind, so the fishing has slowed down from last week.

I plan on going on Saturday. I always find blithfield is a good buzzer venue. So I'll be trying my hand with those. Anyone else going up on Saturday?

Any recent reports? Am hoping to take a boat our next Monday

Actually any general pointers would be helpful as I've not fished this venue before. Keep meaning too but a closed Draycote has given us a final nudge! We're rather partial to a spot of Northampton stylee drift fishing with big lures down deep, so will be giving that a go just to see if it throws up any surprises.

On the contrary, I have fished it regularly and the fish are there for the catching! All Buzzers are catching well - I do not know why the fishery is not updating the weekly report but I am having a good season.

With Draycote being 'rested' and the reduction of bank fishing on a lot of the other midland reservoirs, Blithfield should be selling itself as a major bank fishing venue.

JeffR,

To answer your specific question - there are plenty of fish in Blithfield. Early season most of the regulars fish from the bank. During the 'dog days ' of summer they resort to the boats. Having said, that all those anglers using boats recently have been catching plenty of fish.

If you a drifting Loch style - you will need a drogue. You will be able to see where the bank anglers are catching and drift accordingly.

Hopefully 'Blithfield', as a very experienced blithfield angler will be along to assist you further.

Hope you have a good day.
