The Open Day at Willowgate Trout and Salmon Fishery is this Sunday, 28th March, starting at 10.00am.

There will be casting and fly-tying demonstrations throughout the day from special guests including Andy Murray, Jim Fearn, Ian Gordon and Scott MacKenzie. Please note that Andy Murray will be demonstrating G Loomis products and not tennis

Some of the other brands to be demonstrated include Hardy, Greys, Vision, Redington and MacKenzie DTX rods. Various products from these and other brands will be available to test and purchase.

Fishing will be available as normal on the day although a few pegs on the Trout Loch will be reserved for demonstrations and competitions. There will be great prizes on offer for the casting competitions and for the heaviest fish caught on the day.

We would like to encourage those anglers who plan to come along to bring their families and there will be various activities for kids.

Jock Kettles and James Litster, both Scottish internationalists and previous Captains of the Scotland Teams will be hosting practical fishing sessions for kids. These sessions will compliment the casting demonstrations and tuition by showing the kids how to actually catch a fish – no pressure guys

The Riverside Café will be serving hot and cold food all day and there will also be a barbecue on the go (weather permitting).

Hi all just wanted to bring this to the first page again, the guys there have went to a lot of effort to make this a great family day out so get yourself along and join in the fun, ps i dont work for them or get commision lol i just love the fishery and all the staff are top geezers although they do pay me to clean there windows lol

The willowgate has been fishing amazing in the last few days with anglers catching over a 1/4 of a tonne of trout in the last 14 days!!

The biggest trout this week was a 14 3/4 lb rainbow with doubles caught every day.

Tomorrow is our open day and we have prizes for the heaviest trout , longest cast etc etc

There have been trout stocked this week up to 21lb with brownies up to 15lb so come along and have some rod bending fun.
