Pennine Trout Fishery
Hi all.
Had 4 hours at pennine on Saturday afternoon with my dad. We arrived at 12.00 to find it blowing a bloomin gale. Our fishing was as poor as expected, with me not getting a knock and dad losing 1 over the net of about 5lb. Tried most things from different spots around both lakes.... Various buzzers on a 20' leader, weighted buzzers under a bob from 12" to 20' then various lures (zonkers, knobblers) in various colours on a floating then DI3 line, all to no avail. out came the trusty GRHE and PTN's with various montana variations all proving fruitless. Couldnt really see anything moving but with the wind I'm not really surprised. It is a good fishery, just not for us on the day.
Speaking to the fishery manager (the older and most helpfull one) I found out that a lady had beaten the fishery record earlier in the day by taking 2 trout for 30lb, so it just goes to show, the early bird does indeed catch the worm. I've had quite a few chats with this chap before and find him very knowledgable and a good source of truthful information..... He told me there were a couple of browns in the top lake which were edging towards 20lb!!!!!!!
So undeterred i will be returning soon, and earlier in the day.
Thanks for reading,
Rob.
Any hints for the future will be most appreciated
