Default Just moved to derbyshire

How do folks,

Its been a while since I was last on due to moving and the dodgy service from Sky in trying to get my broadband sorted out,

Anyway I have now moved from Edinburgh to Chesterfield to resume my fly chucking career,

Had a few hours yesterday at Press Manor but no joy (it was pretty windy and freezing) I am looking to head to Carsington soon but have seen conflicting reports around if it is open or not. Their site says yet but trout fisherman mag suggests otherwise, Has anyone been yet?

Also any other still water suggestions would be appreciated, I saw the website for one in Barlow, anyone been to that either?

Cheers
Craig

Hi there, there is some stillwater fishing in a chain of ressies just to the west of Chesterfield but can't remember the name, may be Linacres
Foremark is reported as fishing well at the mo, but it generally does early season. From the comments on here I'd give Ladybower a miss

You may want to consider some river fishing as you are now in the best county in England for it.

Derbyshire County Angling Club (who also have plenty of stillwater including Ogston)
Derby Railway Angling Club
Leek and District AA
Peak Passport Scheme
Day tickets on the Wye for the Peacock water or Litton and Cressbrook.

Some more here...

north derbyshire fishing

Regards,
Dave.

Hi Craig,

I'd just like to endorse Scoobie's recommendation - Barlow is a good place. You can also fish the brook in the brown trout season, but it is rather overgrown.

Ladybower is getting a bad press at the moment but give it a try. If booked in advance the Ladybower day ticket will also allow you to fish the river below the dam or the Derwent and Howden reservoirs higher up the Derwent Valley. Wild brown trout, but the midges can be ferocious.

Have fun exploring!
Paddy
