I haven't yet fished there, but plan to this season. I normally fish Cantref, which is near this Res.

It's owned and run by Welsh Water. There is a PDF file here that you can download:- Fishing

Please us know how you get on, when you go there.

Hello All,
Never fished a reservoir before and I've driven by this place so many times and wondered what it would be like to fish it one day.
I have now joined the Ospreys, who have permission on the res.
It looks, with this weather, that the rivers may be out this week, so the time as come to give it a go.
Can anyone tell me please, what would be the best tactics to use on this water as well as what flies should be used now??
Thanks Kev

Default Beacons Res.

Fishing is open to anyone, day permit avail. with a 6 fish limit, from a machine at the Garwnant Forest Centre approx. 2 miles down the A470 (towards Merthyr) at cost of £11.00 per day (take £1 coins for this machine).
Not as heavily stocked as Cantref or LlywnOnn (the other 2 reservoirs on the same road nearby) and relies more on the smallish wild brownies that populate the water. Small natural patterns are best here and can be hard work, but pleasant place to fish and usually have the place to yourself.
See http://www.fishing-in-kite-country.co.uk/fishing/beacres.html for more info.
