had some time on my hands last night and wanted a change so set off to Leighton for an evening session.
I got there to be told to go home by people coming off the lake as they had fished all day for one fish and some had a blank. i figured i can blank in the pub or at home as well as on the lake so i gave it a go.
I walked on to be greeted by very low water and every man and his dog in the first bay as they had stocked twice to day.
Heading away from the crowds i went down to the Aquarium
on the left hand side of the dam wall and fished there with every conceivable method and bit of fluff to try and get a pull at all. i only had one visible follow on a white Zonker.I had been in the wind for 4 hours and it was getting to me i decided to walk back up to the long bay to the bridge this was now empty i had the place to my self i sat had a coffee and watched as the wind dropped there were fish on the top. i changed to a 8Wf floating line and 7 foot of 6lb leader and a White Dark Hendrickson with Yellow wings on a 16.
as the wind dropped and the ripple faded i took three fish in 20 min and from 9 to 10 i had another 5 just by walking up and down the bank and casting to rising fish they all fell to a stationery dry just in or on the edge of the ripple if i twitched it or moved it i did not get a take. I had no Monsters the biggest was 3lbs approx down to 11/2 lbs but hey
that's fishing
