hi ck What we tend to do is visit toft newton its a concrete bowl but the water and the fishing are both decent. We sometimes visit barlow nr chesterfield which is ok for a more relaxing day they have four small ponds there and it is an easy days fishing really, prices are good too. Our nearest water is colwick park ,boat day for us when we go here the fish are amongst the best I have seen size and condition are first class, Damsel does well on point olive buzzer on the dropper, I keep refering to we, thats my son started him fly fishing at eight, at ladybower hard place to learn with the high banks
but he stuck at it he has just had his 43 birthday and is still keen
One of our favorite waters was Ogston reservoir nr alfreton
you could get a permit from The new napoleon inn which is waterside, now I believe you have to go into claycross to the local tackle shop to get one
and Im not sure of the stocking policy just now, I think derbyshire angling club may have the leese, What a pity ladybower isnt being run well, can you think of a more beautiful place?
regards drifter

Hate to say this but all the Ladybower regulars who talk to me seem to think the fishing is pretty ok and occasionally over easy .

Don't forget it's well higher than most of the bigger stillwaters and the cold can affect things and occasionally the angling . But no contrary reports here from the regulars as I said !

Best wishes

Steve P

the fishing is ok if you like to catch dark small stocky s with no tails and taste like mud. his stocking policy is tolerable for some. i myself would rather catch the roach in there at least there full tailed lol

Default Quality Fishing in Derbyshire

Give Errwood resevoir a whirl. Not far from Ladybower, full finned quality rainbows.Quite a few Ladybower rods fish here. Its one of Derbyshires best kept secrets. (until now).

They have a decent website as well. Errwood Fly Fishing Club - Homepage
