Default Glen Update

being in the grip of heavy snow, once again, with more forecast overnight, the fishery is closed as are most of the roads around the area.We will keep updating the website daily and open as soon as the worst is passed.
On a sadder note,we would like to pass on our sympathys to one of our regular anglers family, who sadly passed away on tuesday. He will be missed by us all.Our thoughts are with you at this sad time.

Hi kevin seen the weather report on the news earlier and they said aberdeenshire and moray and surrounding areas are to get loads of snow
Had about a foot of snow in east kilbride yesterday but its raining today, hopefully wash all that snow away for the weekend so i can get up to my local fishery which need all the support they can get as they have been hit hard in the pocket with being shut so many times over last 3 months due to ice.

yep it just adds to the rest which is already here.Hard to believe that within 8 miles it goes from rain to so much snow and chaos.Fisheries including rivers and lochs are all effected at the minute icebergs going down the spey and tay a couple of days ago.

The old addage of one step forwards and two back springs to mind.

Default Friday Update 26th 4pm

The fishery is now open for normal business again. The road has been cleared and traffic should have no problem getting in.(It was hard work with a shovel) for the first 1/2 mile anyway.

As for the water ,here there is no worries with plenty open for fishing thanks to the wind over the last couple of days which has helped and main loch is nearly clear and small loch has started to open up aswell.

Glad to say normal business has resumed.

Default Tuseday 2nd March

Into a new month and the fishery is now open with plenty of water for fishing clear of ice. Some good fish are being caught upto double figures and main methods have been slow retreives and indicator method also.
Best line to use has been floating with fish sticking to the legs of the lochs where there is a good flow coming in.Water is very clear at present.best flies have been hares ear nymphs, white fritz, bloodworms and the ever consistant Okey Dokeys.
Each day has been different with good and bad and with bright sunshine it doesnt help at times, but is welcome and when it drops down behind the hills, fish come on and catch rates pick up.As the water is still very cold, fish have very shorter feeding patterns and wont chase flies, but once they are hooked are fighting well.
Anglers are averaging around 5 fish a session for 4 hours with quite a few over and well above that, but it is not easy and fish have to be worked hard for and patience is required at this time of year, especially after the length of bad weather we have endured over the last 3 months.
Thankfully things are on the up at last and the golden ball in the sky is getting more visible and the fishing good times are not far away with the nights stretching aswell.

Default Update Friday 5th march

The fishery is open and there is no problems to report, temperatues are on the way up at last after some really low ones and this should help improve the fishing which has been slow with bright sun during the day and when this has gone down, fish have come on but then it has got too cold. The weekend looks alot better which is good to see.
main loch is nearly all open now and wind today should help to clear last of it,small loch is starting to open now and snow is clearing away well.

Daily updates via the website.

March 7, 2010
bright sunshine during the week didnt help the fishing but towards the end and into the weekend as temperatures rose and cloud cover came in,the fishing got much better and anglers had very good sport.Blues were a main feature and scrapped hard.Karen Gillies had 21 fish and 12 of which were blues ,returning 2 over 7lbs,O Kane Mclennan had a great day with 12 fish and his highlight was a Brown of 5lbs which when back in form would be alot bigger and was returned to the water unharmed,Fred Reid had a good bag of 1lbs 9ozs with 2 fish of 6lb 4oz and 5lb 5oz,Bill taylor had a fish of 6 to 7lbs and another at 4lb 8oz,Jim Eddie had a 6lb 13oz,Colin Moffat a 4lb 10oz,and peter Green and Tom Anderson had fish of 4lbs.We now have nearly all the water open with only some ice left in the small loch which is now fishable and with temperatures this week due to be good, things should be back to normal.
