Talking Elinor

A great day's fishing was had yesterday at Elinor. We had all the seasons in one day, with hail, rain, wind, sunshine !

The sport was slow early on but once the weather settled in late afternoon there was superb top-of-the water sport, with dry flies (emerger patterns)doing the damage. The fish were all in great condition and fought well.

I know from experience that the evening sedge hatch is quite dramatic but this didn't happen yesterday (maybe a little early ?).

On the downside some morons burned down the fishing hut over the weekend, however the fishery manager still managed to be helpful and we will certainly be returning. It is a nice sized water for a relative newcomer, not as daunting as the larger waters (Rutland, Grafham) but by no means a puddle !

I can certainly recommend this water

Regards,

Drfrank

That's incredible, the hut being burnt down

Having said that, it was the one thing that lets Elinor down. Maybe they'll get a decent lodge put up now.

Which areas were best ?

Charlie

The best areas on the dry were off the 'pylon point' and at the bay at the opposite end.....plenty of fish rising late on !
