Default Draycote

Going to stay with a mate in Leamington in March and we were planning on a trip to Draycote. Slightly confused by the posts. Is it actually closed to flyfishers or is it planning to close later this year?
If it is closed can anyone suggest somewhere near(ish) to Leamington Spa for a days fishing. Tried Heathcote Lakes and was hoping for somewhere a bit more interesting.
Any tips much appreciated
Alex

Although they have not applied for planning permission(last we heard) they have closed it.I wonder how much it will be poached.
Far bank in amongst the shrubbery with a bubblefloat

alex, i live in warwick so the options as far as i see it are packington, lenches lakes, lechlade or bushyleaze and blenheim (see other threads). All are within 1 hr...... Ooh and if you are looking for larger waters there is thornton and elinor.

Mike's summed it up nicely for you.

Packington is my local water and is easiest for you from Leamington but for a class day out you can't beat Busheyleaze.

Some big fish in Pack. at the moment tho'. Haven't had anything less that four pounds for weeks.

I have not fished thornton or elinor yet but they will be your most 'draycote' like waters. Bushy is a big lake as well and many people rate this lake highly. I have enjoyed it when i have fished it but i always succomb to the big fish water at Lechlade. If you have never given it a go it could ne worth a try. If i am free I am more than happy to show you around the place. As for the others, lenches is a nice spot to fish with two pretty lakes, packington is nice but i have always struggled here, and blenheim i have never fished.
