8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The frosty start to the week made things a little slower but after a really cold night Tuesday and thin ice on the water on Wednesday morning, Thursday and Friday saw the best of the fishing. Most of the week the fish were lying near the bottom of the ponds and taking lures and occasional nymphs fished very slowly. Towards the weekend, when the air temperature rose a little, the fish in the small ponds were slightly nearer the surface becoming more active and inclined to chase lures. Best patterns this week included Dancer, Cat’s Whisker, Humungus, Damsel, Fritz, Montana and Diawl Bach. Favourite colours were Black and green, yellow, orange and white.
