FISHING REPORT 11/02/09

Now the ice has gone we have had a double stocking of fish. The lakes are nice and clear and the fishing has been excellent for those who don’t mind a bit of cold weather. Four double figure fish have been caught this week making despite the cold weather.
Normal winter tactics are working ie lures fished very slow and deep but during the middle of the day there have been plenty of fish caught on small Black Buzzers ( Dr Peter Fletcher of Norton catching eleven using this method)

William Raygill from Thirsk caught 2 doubles both around the 12lb mark, his tactics being to fish a Black Zonker practically stationary on the bottom. Michael Slade of Throckley caught 8 fish the biggest a Rainbow of 11lb. Regular Paul Chaytor has had some excellent sessions catching a lot of fish with lures under the indicator. Jonathon Dicks of Stockton landed the best fish of the week a 16lb Rainbow caught using a size 14 Black Buzzer.


The best flies this week were Black or Olive Zonkers, Olive, Nomads, Cormorants Cats Whiskers
