Default Alderneuk report

Hi All.
Glad to see the back of that cold nonsense, like most fishery owners I bet! Although they are predicting some more minus stuff the end of this week, ahhhh! In our case the worst frost's always seem to come on a Friday night as you've got folk booked in on the Saturday! Anyway, it's all character building stuff, enough rambling, some lovely fish out recently, a good day had after some serious ice breaking, so serious that i've manged to put a hole in my aluminium boat, queue titanic music!!, last weekend when 18 fish where winkled out of there frozen home by Stevie, Davie and Ross, bows to 5lb plus and a lovely 3lb Brownie, and then the same lads had a beutiful 4lb Tiger and 5lb bow in an 11 fish catch the following weekend, go on the dynamic Kirkconnel trio, bug's n' bungs and rabbits doing the buisness, A lovely 6lb plus bow in a 3 fish catch for rab, well dome mate, A spanking hard fighting 5lb 12oz bow for Gavin on a bloodworm, 3 nice fish to country joe on white lures after i told him buzzers and nymphs were the way to go! Dohh, more bum info! And catch of the month to Simon littlejohn when on a tough day for the other guys, he sneaked out 11 fish on his favourite rabbit lure's, sometimes someone makes it all look so easy!! 2x6lb plussers and a real stuning 3lb 8oz Brownie cream of the catch, a big well done mate. The water clarity is superb, and i'm amazed that, at the moment, lures, particularly rabbits, black or green, are outscoring buzzers and nymphs, but remember the bum info I gave country joe! Best to let the fish decide what they want! Watch the weather for this weekend, were almost totally ice free at the moment. phone 07901 602020 for any queries, best fishes Wilma and Wullie.

Hi Wullie and Wilma
Myself and my dad made it down early Saturday morning for a couple of hours and my dad managed to catch a lovely 3 pound Rainbow, it put up a great fight for him!
Around 9am the fish were biting for everyone, also a few were jumping and breaking the surface! Must have been the lovely warm morning that did it.

I'm going to come down again this Saturday coming as I just can't get enough of the fishing just now.
Thanks again for a great morning, oh, I managed to get myself a new floating line so I have no excuses now
Cheers
Russell

Look froward to seeing you Sat, Rustyboyyy, mornings have been outfishing afternoons this last week, just beware of a heavy frost, that will probably mean ice breaking 1st thing! You know how I like a play in the boat! Maybe if I hole the other side the water will run back out? See you Friday country joe, where I will no doubt dispense some more pearls of wisdom on the tactic's front!!!! Lessons should have been learned long ago requarding dishing out advice on flies etc, the Trout always contradict you, Forgot to mention another fine fish last week to Brian, a lovely 6lb plus bow in a 3 fish catch, sorry mate, how could I forget! Cheers all, Wullie C. Thanks for the message Badger, much apprieciated.

A big thank you to Wullie and Wilma for the best day I have had at fishing ever ever!!!

With my new floatline I ended up catching 2 cracking Rainbows that day.
I had a sinking tippet and a 6 pound leader about 2 arms length and on the end I used a sort of lure that had 2 eyes, white body and long green tail.
(sorry I don't know the name of it)

The one I kept was a 3 pounder and the fish was in amazing condition.
The one I released looked about the same size.
Both fish put up a great fight and tested my new skills no end

I was there with my dad as usual and he caught 1, mine was heavier! hahaha
My dad caught his on 3 traditional wet flies on a long leader.

Wullie helped me out all day and gave me great tips and showed me how to improve my cast etc, just think, on a big river like the Tweed or similar, this kind of tutition would have cost me hundreds of pounds a day!!!
Thank you so much to the owners Wullie and Wilma.

Until the next time.

Cheers
Russell

Default Alderneuk Report

Hi Folks, some possitivley spring-like weather on the odd day last week, in- between some real baltic ones! Still getting frosts at night and ice breaking most mornings with the boat, much easier when it's only -1 or 2, unlike in the middle of the real cold snap when a night at -8 would see a covering of up to 3/4 of an inch of ice in one night! It's been really noticable how the boat really stirs the trout up, and i've lost count now of the times the trout have came on after a buzz round in the boat to clear ice, i'm sure it noises them up and they're more prone to take after being disturbed, twice last week i cleared an area that had been under ice for some time, near 2 inch thick, and as soon as it was cleared, anglers had fish from the newly opened water, i'm sure some of the resident trout find refuge under areas that are ice covered for long periods, anyway enough of my ponderings, been some great sport to be had over the last week Simon did it again with a 7 fish catch on his favourite Rabbits, a 5lb 4oz bow best of the bunch, he also had the most beutiful rainbow trout i've ever seen, a real heart breaker, stunning winter colours, Well done kevin with a lovely 4lb Tiger and a 6lb plus bow in a 4 fish catch on various lures and bung fished creations, Country joe sneaked out 4 lovely fish with a stunning 4lb tiger the pick of the bunch, well done Laurie, 5 nice bows to Terry on a varity of lures best at 5lb, and the dynamic Kirconnel duo this time, minus Davie, catches to many fish Stevie says!! Had a great day on Sunday with 13 between Stevie and Ross, both with 5lb plus bows and a lovely 3lb Brownie for Stevie, and a 3lb Tiger for Ross, they had to mix and match for there bag, with various lures, bugs and bloodworm doing the trick, 3 nice bows to 4lb plus for Andy on Monday. A real turnaround from last week when afternoons outfished mornings, fish still mostly being caught deep, 6 foot plus down, rabbits, cat's whiskers, blobs, and fritz's best lures, bugs, bloodworm and buzzers under the indicator also scoring, no defined hot spots as such, shallows producing odd nice fish last kick, tree line been most consistant area. Hope to see you guys soon, fishery closed on the 13th March for a club outing.

Heres Simons 5lb 4oz bow, wish i'd had my camera for a snap of the really nice one he had, bum's!!! Thanks again all, and best fishes from Wilma and Wullie.
