well tock my lad for his first fly fishing day today and what a great day we had at thornton,he managed 8 bow's best was 14 lbs !!!! hes now totaly hooked

now the mrs has just come in and said she could do with me out the way tomorrow so i was planning on going to toft newton for my first visit,just want to know if anyones been this season and hows it fishing,also whats best tactics for here?

It usually fishes well early on. Ask Jason, he'll put you right and on the fish.

I usually start on an intemediate line with either a cat's whisker or montana (or both) fished nice and slow. They will either want black flies or white. If no joy, just change the colours until you find one they like.

Not fished it myself, but it is fishing quite well, however the fish are as you would expect this time of year tightly shoaled up , keep moving until you find em , Di 3 or 5 doing the trick , several catches today of over 10 fish,
