Default Bank House Caton

Well I've just joined the forum so thought I'd throw in our visit to Bank House last Thursday

There was a thin covering of ice which was breaking up as we arrived, the aeriators were on and by 10am it was totally clear of ice. The water was rather coloured though, however that didn't stop the fish.

Hummungus or similar patterns accounted for five well conditioned rainbows, despite a bitterlly cold nort west wind all fish were caught on a sink tip with the fly twitched along the bottom.

Roll on spring

Default 6th Feb

Had a look at Bank House today to see how it was fishing, there was about 6 people there all catching fish. Didn't see any big fish but looked like buzzers are working well there.

Going to give it a go tomorrow I think...

try one or two size 14 black skinny buzzers - black silk body, fine pearl rib, small red hot spot on thorax(t shirt paint) - glue/hard as nails the lot. If you don't mind fishing the indicator, have one at 2ft and one at about 4 ft - if you don't like the indicator you could straight line them on a long leader and fish them very slow/static.
Worked very well for me today. You can get action on larger brighter flies, especially under the indicator, but be prepared for a lot of very shy takes - often unhittable.
Tight lines.
