Default A hot day at Rockbourne

Took myself off to Rockbourne today. I have not been for a few years and I had forgotten what a nice fishery it is.
The soaring temperatures over the last couple of days had driven the fish deep. Managed a nice brace of fully fit rainbows just on the three pound mark before I surrendered to the heat.
Both fish fell to a Goldhead Daddy on a floating and a sinking line. I'm sure it will pick up when the weather breaks.

Hi all,

I had the pleasure of fishing here this week, on the 5th May. A lovely part of Hants, a very friendly welcome from Simeon (please excuse me if I've spelt your name incorrectly) and some beautifully conditioned fish; I was lucky enough to catch a 3 1/2 lb r/b and a 4 lb brown, and although I would have preferred to have returned them (esp the brown), I was aware this was a catch and kill only water.
Although there was a huge amount of fly life around, our little group only had joy on larger lure type flies and it seemed to be a case of spot a fish and target it rather than chucking and hoping.
For me it's on the expensive side at 30 quid for an afternoon 2 fish ticket, but it's such a pretty spot with great fish, perhaps it's worth it from time to time. I'll definitely be back at some stage.

Regards, Del.
