I fish Wellsfield basically during the close season,i can normally take my limit or at least get the chances ,even if i dont do my part and miss them
The Lochan's are full to bursting with natural trout grub, snails about 3 or 4 types at least ! Tons of sticklebacks, cased cadis ,buzzers, water boatman, great diving beeltes, buzzers, damsel nymphs to name a few, in fact ive seen few other central Scotland fisheries with so much life in them.
However ive seen guys fish it for the first time, curse and swear "Nae F###ing fash in here ! " etc, etc you know the kind of thing we've all heard it however they are normally chucking lures to the horizen in sinking lines and stripping them back like madman
Often i find the fish there are only feet out, i normally do matter casting "along" the bank and fishing nymphs or even lures very slowly even more so on cold winter days.
Each and every fishery has its hotspots, its tactics that work best etc, and indeed quirk's it takes you a wee while to learn them.
