Hi All
The baltic weather continues, -7 Wednsday, and Thursday night, a shocking -9 on Friday night, -6 last night, we've been trying our best with the boat to clear the ice, but today was a no hoper, it's just to thick!! So unless the weathermen have got it wrong, predicting -4 tonight, Alderneuk will be solid tommorow, then we're closed till the 27th, any queries call 07901 602020, A few brave souls ventured our togged up to the max, Scott was rewarded on Friday in absolutley baltic weather with a stunning near 7lb bow on a wee buzzer, dropped a few as well, well done mate, fortune favours the brave and all that, Stevie and Davie Lind had 5 lovely fish and dropped a few more, before ice stopped play yesterday, a nice 3lb Brownie in there, and they both lost good fish due to the ice, it was amazing, I was out there smashing through pretty thick ice with the boat, making a considerable racket, as you do when breaking ice, and not 10 yrds away, they were both playing fish!! This was evident last winter, when ice breaking, amazingly it dos'nt seem to bother the trout at all, yet in the summer, a bum cast to a rising trout will see it scarper double quick!! Strange creatures, another pattern is emerging in the cold clear water, and like last winter, buzzers and similar wee stuff, static under the indicator is the killing method in the cold. A big thankyou to all our customers and from us all here at Alderneuk have a very merry christmas, and hope to see you soon in the new year, have a great one, cheers Wilma and Wullie.

Hi Folks, must apologise for the date I posted for re-opening after the christmas break, I said the 27th Dec, it's actually the 30th Dec, then closed the 31st, then open right through the new year break, sorry for the slip up, i'm having my senile dementia early, so i'll be totally with it when i'm 80! We actually managed to break some ice yesterday, only a small area in the deep water in front of the lodge, and 3 brave souls fished, fishing was tough with 2 landed and several lost, we'll done Andy. cheers all, and have a good one.
