FISHING REPORT 14/12/09

The fishery is fishing exceptionally well at the moment. Although the water temperatures are cold most of the fish seem to be feeding within the top 2 feet. The Brown trout are really active at the moment with specimens up to 7lb being caught. Our policy of stocking with larger fish is proving very popular with some nice rainbows in the 5-7 lb being caught on a regular basis.

Chris Micallef from Stockton had a good session this week landing 19 fish, most were caught using Fry imitation patterns such as Cormorants. His best fish was a 9lb Rainbow and a Brown of 4lb. Regular Paul Chaytor has had some very good sessions recently landing up to 12 fish in a 4 hour session, 4 of his catch being Browns. Peter Johnson of Peterlee landed a nice rainbow of 14lb caught on an Olive Zonker. John Pickering of Stockton caught 9 fish using black Buzzers his best a perfect fish of 9lb

The best flies this week were Black or Olive Zonkers, Olive, Nomads, Cormorants Cats Whiskers, Blobs, Hot head damsel and Mini lures.

Aren't your browns out of season at the moment? i realise some are caught by mistake, but it's a bit wrong to advertise them?!
