Default Graiglwyd Springs

I have to attend a weeding this weekend on Anglesey and was thinking of trying out Graiglwyd on the way home on Monday for a few hours. From checking on here it appears that talking to the owner is a good move but has anyone else fished it recently and could advise re best spots and methods?
Thank you.

Hi , fished it a few times this year, but the last time about 3 weeks ago did well with minkies on an intermediate, from what i can gather black lures doing well at the moment. Regarding best spots , a couple who fish it a lot told me the bigger fish are often caught on the far side,

Well, had a few hours t Graiglwyd today. Not as much as I'd have liked but with 'er indoors sat in the car during my time there I can't grumble too much. Met Huw the owner and I must say he was superb company. An absolute gent who calls it as it is. Caught a lovely rainbow of just under 3lb and gave a good fight. There were fish rising all over the lake and one or two BIG fish amongst them. A coral goldhead did the buisness for me and others were also catching with one person catching a fish of over 7lb. Delightful venue. You have to work for your fish and that suits me fine. I can't wait to go back during the next couple of months.
Once again thank you/diolch Huw.

Ian,
I had a Di5 on. There were 3 other lads there at the same time and they were struggling and as soon as I had one they changed to sinking lines as well. If I'd have had a choice today, I'd have gone for an intermediate. The other lads were catching on a leech style "fly"? It was about 4" long, white in colour with a red head and a hook in the tail. It was doing the buisness for them lol.
Fish were rising everywhere fair play and I reckon a klink or a shipmans would have been well worth a try. Just my luck, I took a single box of lures lmao.

a single small red shuttlecock (size 12 or 14) usually does the trick at Graiglwyd. Failing that a team of buzzers or crunchers do the trick but you need to keep them small.

r ian - I usually go there with the mad butcher in the Jamaican hat so I've probably seen you about. The butcher was up there last friday (I had to work) and he tells me it was hard going but he did manage his 4 eventually - probably immediatley after Huw stocked!!! My other mate Del Boy managed 1. He was getting loads of plucks/grabs and put it down to the tail on his point fly being too long. turns out that the hook on his blob on the dropper had rusted away and broken at the bend He worked it out after losing his 7th fish - muppett!!

I've never managed a double there but from what I've seen I think you need to get through the smaller stuff to get down to the monsters.

It's a very well run fishery but it's too small for me - I'd much rather be out on a boat on Brenig - but it does feed the habit whilst the ressies are closed.

One tip worth noting is NEVER, EVER, open your buttie box in front of Huw!!

Default Graiglwyd Fishing

Just been to Graiglwyd today, a very strong easterly wind blowing on the lake making casting quite challenging, but it did not put the fish off. Totall number of fish for the day was 13, but could of easily had 20 if I had landed all of the lost fish. Plenty of action coming to a DI3 and orange lures pulled back quickly underneath the surface. Midge tip with size 14 and 16 crunchers and buzzers fished static doing the job as well.
