At least there's some good news.

I hope Phil will still be there in some capacity and that eth stocking policy remians the same as it has been excellent the past few years.

Default Carsington Fly Fishers

For all you anglers who fish Carsington and may be interested in a FUN Fishing League Carsington Fly Fishers are looking for a few more members.

The comp is boat fishing (with your selected partner, not randomly drawn) on the first Sunday of the month from April until October. No finacial prizes or pro anglers but a lot of good banter. Fees are £20 a year (which includes a two course meal at the AGM) and fishing is a 6 fish, 9 - 5 with a reduced ticket (£22 last year based on two in a boat £33 single)

there are a couple of other optional inter club events

For more info have a look at
Carsington fly fishers
or PM me

Ian

Default Carsington opening few days.

Fished Carsington yesterday. Very bright conditions found the fish relatively deep (well they were for us). We found drifting down the bank opposite the lodge quite productive using type II sinkers (wet cel II in old money). We did find that after hitting a couple of fish things dried up and we moved on. We spent most of the morning and afternoon moving spots, including Upperfield Bay and Fishtail creek - again always picking up fish but never more than 1 or 2 before things went quiet.
Most boats seemed to be travelling all over the water to find fish, however most returned to the bank opposite the lodge for the late afternoon when we managed to pick up a few more fish on intermediates using buzzer and montana's.
We ended up with over 20 fish returned, very enoyable, if challenging fishing. Fish were the usual quality with some nice stocked browns thrown in for good measure.
Friends of ours fished the opening day in much the same conditions and had the best part of 50 fish returned so it's fishing well.
