Default Lechlade Enquiry

Morning all,

Thinking of a trip to Lechlade this coming Wednesday (semi weather dependant!) and wondered if anyone has been in the last week or so? Last thing I heard there was still a bit of a shoaling issue but maybe this weather has sorted that out-planning to give them a call to check clarity and levels later on.

Hi Guys
We had a club day at Lechlade on Saturday with 20 anglers fishing. 36 fish were taken, all in excellent condition and fighting well. the fish are not fully spread around the fishery yet, but the shoals are moving around. The boats fished generally better than the bank.
Early on the first part of the lake fished well with the end nearest the house producing better than the peninsula.
Later on the upper part of the lake switched on with the left hand side of the island(as you look from the house) fishing well from both boat and bank.
Lures took the majority of the fish, particularly black nomads and damsels fished on floaters, midge tip or intermediates.
Not easy fishing, but if you were willing to move and work for your fish they were there to be had. Water clarity very good, but it rained like stink yesterday evening so what it's like now I don't know.
Bushyleaze fished it's socks off on Sunday - well worth a visit!
Best of luck on your visits
Paul

Thanks Paul,

Very useful information, did any of the bigger fish show?

Hi Mowgli
Nothing very large, the bulk of the fish were between 6 and 8lb. For the first time since we've been going there as a club we didn't have a double between us. Having said that, the fish were in stunning condition and went like trains!

Hi Mowgli,

My fish on the day Paul is talking about were 10lb 3oz, 8lb 7oz, 7lb 5oz and 5lb and all in superb condition. I fished from the boat on the left hand side of the island casting towards the bank where there were overhanging trees. Towards the bank fished better than towards the island. I caught on a midge tip with a black nomad then a black and green tadpole using a faster retrieve than most were using.

Have a good day on Wednesday.

Joan
