Hi,
Your post reminded me to enquire (inquire?) re the trout fishing.
There's a little bit of info on http://www.fisheries.co.uk/tring/index.html.
Just phoned Mr Kempster; very nice fella it would appear, and he informed me the fishery is closed until next April, and that membership is available for next season. It does seem a little on the expensive side, tickets at 20 and 30 pounds plus a fiver for a boat, but i live in Herts so it may make sense.

I had a season ticket on Trinford this year, but only fished it about 6 times, last time in about June..

The two guys that ran it were very friendly, and the few times I went in the evenings I usually had the lake to myself. I caught fish every time I went but it never offered me the dry fly fishing I was craving, although in fairness I probably never gave it enough time.

To be honest I found the lake too small, but if you want a bit of sport in Herts (where there's little choice), then its a well run fishery with some nice fish. I had a fish of around 10lb's on a diawl bach variant that snapped the hook in the net!
