Rather surprisingly, despite the extreme variances in weather every day at the moment, it doesn't seem to be putting either the anglers or the fish off! Most trout the past couple of weeks have been getting caught in the top few feet on floating lines, even with a sinking line the fish are being picked up high in the water!...

Believe it or not the best fly by far, both today as well as Friday past is a size 12 shuttlecock Yellow Owl CDC, accounting for numerous fish. Even larger beasties, like Derek Hawthorns full finned rainbow. At over 3ft long, it was estimated at anywhere between 15 & 18lb's! (I'll give him 15lb anyway) Second to that has been the millenium bug then the apts blood worm, fished close to the bankings, as they seem to be going off the rabbits at the moment. George Burns even managed a few on a dry sedge on Friday afternoon!.. The only lure mentioned is the orange dancer, but fished on a slow sink but retrieved quickly to keep it high.
Tight lines!..
