Default Packington or any other trout fishery near the NEC

Dear Forum Members,

On the 6th of December I will be taking my family to the NEC. While they peruse the 'clothes show' and bottom out my credit card I would like to indulge in some trout fishing.
Previously, I have fished 'Cocks Close' at Packington and would welcome any advice on how best to fish the water. Also, if there any other waters in the vicinity I would welcome reports on those.

Many Thanks,

Ade

I fish Packington, Cocks Close regularly. At the moment it is fishing well with some big fish coming out.

The fish, at the moment, are quite a long way out so I would advise a boat..it's not expensive.

Pretty well anything is catching but don't rely on a fast retrieve..they are not chasing. I use an Apps Blood Worm on a floating line, about 14/15ft. leader fished static or drifting in the breeze. Cast out and let it do it's own thing for about five minutes..if no takes, then repeat in another section.

You realy need a breeze to fish Pack. properly..it dies in a flat calm.

Fished cocks close from the bank last week had 2 rainbows biggest 8lb 3 .found it slow and seemed the fish were out further so a boat might of caught more, however this time of year they probably wont shoel up so much and catching on the lure might come into there own.Try using an orange lure if no result be prepared to change untill you start getting takes.
