Question Any Farmoor II advice welcome

Hi all,

Thinking about making the trip down to Farmoor II on Sunday.

The weather looks awful and has been for a few days now, does the wind effect Farmoor much? Does it colour up?

Would really appreciate any info as i've only fished there a couple of times before.

Thanks

Reading Charles Jardines article about Farmoor in Decembers Fly Fishing & Fly Tying magazine , would be to get your self some pike bungs to hang your flies off and let them bob up down close in, there seems to be some good fish to be caught this way.

You heretic Peter!!
Thats what the "old boys" do!!
Or they use an "anchor hook" a size 2/0 or 4/0 and a DI7 with static boobies
Disgraceful!
Seriously, DI 5 slow retrieve two boobies will get you fish, but nymphs will also get you the odd fish.

Going against my usual rese tactics I would always fish Farmoor with the wind on my back and despite it's size a long cast is not always required. Fish your fly right to the bank and often you will get a follow or swirl as you lift off, if this happens just drop the fly back in, sometimes the fish will still be there and take the fly probably due to aggression.
Great fishing when it is good and watch out for there are some biggies in there chasing the fry or even just cruising the margins.
