I fished the bank this morning, Stocky Bay, only managed 1, to a Minkie Booby. Didnt see anyone else catching. Dont let me put you off though, it might have been a different story from a boat.

Default Rutland Friday

Started just by the lodge after seeing a fish rise but no good, motored into sailing club bay and fished around the weed beds for 30 mins but still no joy. Saw gulls diving just at the lodge side of the yachts and the rest is history, 8 fish by 1.25 best going 3lb plus, altogether 13 fish kept and 3 nice browns returned, if browns had still been in season I would have finished by 12. It was that good were off again on the 30th.
Di 3 or a fast glass, Humungus and White Blobs with a steady pulled retrieve.

Best of luck

Andy

Fished Stocky Bay today too, but this evening. Landed 1, lost 2, missed 3. Not good angling on my part but there were fish about for sure, and that was only between 3 and 4:30. White Minkie on a floater.

Does anybody know if Rutland is worth a trip, it's the last weekend before the boats come off the water? and then I really will be hanging up my boots for the winter.

I'd give it a big miss mate...i fished Sunday from 9:00-2:00 and managed 1 fish from 1 pull . I fished the Blue pipes - Lodge and caught on a Black & Silver Hummungus on a midge tip.

From what I hear it's patchy.....nothing for long periods of time then 2 or 3 takes in 1/2 hour..then nothing again.

Although the boats are still catching (NZ point to East Creek)

I was on Grafham Friday & Saturday from the bank and managed 11 over the 2 days all between 2.5 and 3.5lb....much better prospects if you ask me....there were plenty of fish moving !

Left of the Lodge to Valley Creek is best - Floater with Hummungus or minkie Or Dam & Gaynes !

Cheers Rob

We're off to Rutters next Monday James, first stop will be in front off the sailing club, then we'll chase the gulls. Had a great day 3 weeks ago. White blobs and a black humungus did the business for us. I've just tied a load more up, blobs that is.

Default What a let down

After booking a boat a month ago I was phoned by Rutland Lodge today and told that next Monday there will be no boats on the water, this despite the website stating that boats remain on the water THROUGHOUT November!! Now I fully appreciate that the boats require maintaining in readiness for next season but would one day matter? Plus when I booked the boat the girl told me that the lodge was shut on the day but she had spoken to the warden and it would be ok, just go to the wardens office on arrival.
I've organised the Alan West Memorial at Rutland for the last 9 years and always had top service from John and the boys but I feel a little let down by todays events. This year I organised a pairs match which cost around £3000 for the boats etc. but when the report was put in the press and on the website they spelt my name SMITH, nothing wrong with the spelling? My name is Clark.
I wonder if John Mees at Grafham would appreciate my business more? Maybe Andy Miller at Eyebrook or Ben at Stocks, we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Yours a little disgruntled

Andy Clark

PS we're off to Arnfield now on Monday
