Smile Bushyleaze

A fine day out today, first time in a boat, caught 3 nice 2lb + rainbow by lunchtime.

My confidence is restored having blanked the last 2 visits due to the warm weather and seemingly totally disinterested fish.

Others were catching too from the bank.

Hi Dayzo,

Were there any distressed fish still in the lake? im supposed to be going this weekend, but last time I was there, there were many fish that seemed to be stressed and floating belly up in middle of the lake. Fishery manager was coming round scooping them out with a net.

Any sign of this when you were there?

These are the 'oversummered' fish that blight Lechlade and to a lesser extent bushy in the autumn. they don't affect the fresh fish though and aren't a sign of disease/distress in the majority of the stock.

Yeah agree it doesn't affect the newly stocked fish, but fishing in such a small lake with dead or dying fish isn't the least bit enjoyable. Especially when you pay the large sums of money they ask. Will probably go anyway this weekend as I haven't been fishing for a while and im starting to get twitchy!

I didn's see any this time but I was not fishing the bank which is generally where they seem to be, in the margins.

Lots of lively fish rising and jumping in the bay behind the clubhouse though!

Went too Bushy yesterday. Agree with Stuart M but have to say that they seem to have got the situatiuon well under control now. Was a good days fishing although quite hard going, ended the day with 3 nice fish all hard fighting around the 2-3 lb mark.
