Default Pitsford Res

Hi

Had a hard day at Pitsford last Sat, just wondering if anyone has fished it more recently as I'm considering giving it another bash this Sat or if anyone goes before this Sat can you please provide an update.

Looking at AW website fishing reports the other waters are doing much better, but I'm sure Pits will come good.

Hi Loopy

It's still pretty tough mate but thats how we like it. I fished yesterday and today from the bank. Best action is still early (7-8.30) and late afternoon with very little in between.

I fished from the pines down to the gravels with the gravels being the most productive.

Tried Robs suggestions from an earlier thread and had a good number of follows to large minkie boobies but the fish seemed tentative. Best method for me was a size 10 cat booby with 1 (bit windy today) or 2 pearly crunchers on a washing line. The fish spooned were full of corixa.

Anglers came and went with the odd fish being caught. I was told one chap caught a 4lb+ brownie on a hopper near the sailing club yesterday!

As for the boats, sorry i don't know.

I have a huge headache from the wind, so i hope it helps, makes sense or both....

Unless I either lived right on the banks or were a super experienced regular with a season ticket, I just have no idea why anyone would subject themself to this when Ringstead and Elinor are both within a few miles ?

Much better chance of locating fish on these medium sized waters.

Totally agree with you Charlie.

I wouldn't travel any great distance but it's my local (less than 15 mins away) and for the shear convieniance i wanted to make the most of my season ticket whilst my partner is in respite care this week. Couldn't be arsed to go to Rutland ...although i like Elinor i wanted to have a curry tonight Still, I caught and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Just trying to help out loopy mate, if he was still thinking of going

It's the challenge that keeps us going!!! I love a challenge but Pitsford at the moment seems dead. Fished last weekend and tried everything from tubes to 3 dries to the washing line. NOWT!!!!!

Not entirely true, got 1 nice brown to a hares ear booby against a weed bed but the conditions were perfect and i really would have expected more.

There seems to be somthing wrong there at the moment or maybee i'm being a little mellodramatic!! It's been known before!!!

Oh, and i really don't mind a challenge but no-one else seems to be catching either.

Pitsford has been hard for a few weeks now. I think one of the issues is there are no stock fish going in now and havent been for around a month. You are therefore now fishing for resident fish and less of them each day. Have to say though that yes the fishing is hard, but the fish if you do get one or two are mint and mostly around the 3lb mark. Do agree though that Pitsford is not the easiest water and if you get the chance Elinor is a better bet for numbers of fish.

I don't know any of you but Phil, who is a very good angler. I just think reservoir bank fishing in November is not for beginners, there are better places to learn this game.

No worries, couldn't agree more. Don't let the number of posts fool you

Yeah, I'm thinking of poor old Loopylines on his second trip out, up to his knackers in freezing water and not a trout for several hundred yards...............................

Thanks for all the feedback and advice chaps.

It was really because I was considering going elsewhere that I asked the question. Just thought I would go somewhere else and suddenly everyone is taking loads at Pitsford - sounds unlikely from what you have said!

Pitsford is my closest water, I did the starter course thier and have only fished twice. Also this week I have probably not much more than the afternoon - therefore the £7 beginners ticket fro a bit of casting practice is good value - but I feel it is time to catch some (or even a)fish.

I guess I will try either Elinor or Ringstead, I get the Elinor weekly catch report and that looks like it has been going well for the last coupple of weeks. Does anyone have any info on how Ringstead is fishing at present.

Again - thanks very much for the info and advice, appreciate anyone trying to keep my knackers warm
