Default Chalk Springs Oct 30th

Had quite a good day at Chalk Springs on Friday,

First on the lakes, which was nice, slightly misty and a bit chilly. Started with a PTN with a bit of red in it and had one out from the South lake early on. Had a wander round looking for some bigger fish using the bargain polaroids from the thread in the tackle section. They may not be the best money can buy, but they definately made a difference (thanks for that link )

Ended up on the West lake and had another on a cats whisker, beginning to wish I had another fleece on.

Had another look round and found some fish under the overhanging tree half way along the far side of the East lake. Put a gold-head olive nymph on and caught a cracking brownie from about a rod's length out, just shy of 4lb.

Struggled a bit, for a couple of hours maybe, and ended up where I started to get my fourth and finish a good day.....even had lunch with a nice looking bird

Perhaps not the clearest I've seen Chalk Springs and didn't see too many big fish. Also, would hope that was considered fully booked as I wouldn't have liked too many more people there. But, despite it being a bit of a drive, I will make the effort to get there more often.

Russell.

Well done.
Have you seen the FFFsouthern trip to Woodington? A few of us went last year and had an excellent day.

Nice brownie!
As for the bookings - well I don't know what the limit on numbers is, but I've seen 20 or more people there at once (during the week) which in a fishery that size in my opinion is pure greed.
I'll go again next season, but if I'm tripping over people to find a place to cast, or get 5 people (!) simultaneously thrashing-away at the North puddle, then I think my days at CS will be over.

I counted 20 there on friday so hopefully that was full, I agree any more and it would put me off. Most people seem to fish from the middle outward which maybe makes it seem worse?

ps. Chub, can't make that sorry.

No worries.

My club has Chalk Springs twice a year, usually around 15 of us and that's plenty imho.
