Default Rutland , Grafham & Pitsford - Update

Just in case anyone is in my neck of the woods this weekend I thought I'd pass on the following..

Rutland:-
Boat
East Creek,Sailing Club, Normanton, Blue Pipes, Fantasy Island....Fast Glass - Di-3 up to 20 seconds down with Minkies, Hummungus and Hummungus Boobies pulled back at a steady pace.

Bank fishing in the same area's, and Carrot Creek - Barnhill Creek with Minkies and Floating Fry

Grafham:-
Boat
Savages, Valley Creek, Lodge, Nature Reserve, Gaynes to Dam
Floating line and dries, or crunchers
Intermediate and Minkie boobies and hummungus slow figure of 8 retrieve

Bank
Perry Point, Seat, Gaynes, Corner of Dam(gaynes end) same methods as above

Pitsford:-
Boat
Dam to Sailing Club,Pines, Narrows, Pitsford Creek, Gravels

DI-3 or DI-5 with Hummungus boobies best

Bank
Gravels, Stilton Point, Cliffs, Pines

Floating line with minkie booby (or suspender minkie) top dropper and hummungus or minkie on the point with a figure of 8 retrieve.

All reservoirs are fishing very well, Grafham and Pitsford especially with a lot of 2.5lb - 4lb fish. The fish are on Fry, Corixa and buzzers when the weather is warm and very close to the weed-beds and bank.

Rutland is fishing OK...the bigger fish 3lb+ just don't seem to be showing now (like they were...it's just the odd nice fish about now)..i think it'll take a really good cold snap now to get the big fish at Rutland close to the bank again and on the 3" roach fry - which will probably be the end of November now at the earliest !

Hello from new member (first posting).....just to concur with Rob....2 days ago at Grafham there were lots of fish showing, taking buzzers off the surface (spooning confirmed this) with a lot around L buoy, some exciting follows/pulls and takes to small boobies and floating fry patterns.

Really enjoyable day.

Been Pitsford today from the bank and it was very hard. Had two decent Rainbows this morning and then nothing. Didnt see another fish caught and there were plenty of bank anglers about.

Hi All

Spent all day Sat at Pitsford and it was hard going. Teamed up with Chickenfish of here (my first ever internet date!! no offence CF but not want I had dream't of), he kindly offered to meet me and give me some pointers as I am a newbie.

We both blanked on the bank and with little to no life showing decided to take a boat for the afternoon. This prove a little more fruitfull with Chickenfish landing a pike then a lovely brown circa 3-4lb, which we returned. Other than a couple of follow / knocks we had nothing else.

Sadly we found the fish showing more activity at 4.30ish - when we had to return the boat!!

The general view from talking to people is that it is very tough at present. Thanks to the generosity of CF with his time I still had a very enjoyable day and learn't a bit which is as much as I can ask for at present. I'll get that trout in the end!

Aye, it was a pig of a day. We need a frost or two, that water is still pretty warm. Don't think the fish know it's November yet!!!! My old man fished Rutland off the bank the other day and he said it was the same there. The place just didn't seem switched on. Oh well!!

Stick with it Loopylines, you'll get one soon!!!!

Rob forgot to mention that all the best bits of Grafham are now out of bounds due to some antiquated rule that seemed to have no logic whatsoever, starting on Oct 31st

We had six fish and a few follows but not easy.

Ah!! That would be the rule that bans the nasty fishermen, but still allows the dog walkers, cyclists and the rest of the Grockles to carry on as usual.

Although if you think about it Charlie, you dropped a couple and I think Graham must have dropped at least three, so it wasn't too bad all things considered.

And the three of us got to spend the day in the three man boat which I thought was quite fun, I fancy doing that again next season when the fishing is a little better.

No question it was a fun day out JB and I would certainly do it again although Graham reckons that boat is coming out of service.

Best bit was Graham saying he would fish the dry fly until we got a "a few ahead" - I guess he's still waiting.......................
