Default Grafham

Myself and two of the other forum members are, rather foolishly, doing "Three Men in a Boat" on Saturday as the rudder match is on and we could only get the longer "Irish" type boats.

Apart from being a large hoot, this will probably be my last boat trip of the season so it would be nice to catch some fish.

Anyone been there this week ?

Yes, I've read Rutland Ghillies.

Thanks

Charlie

I was there yesterday. I had six on minkies brifting onto L buoy. There we're alot of fish taking nymphs close to the surface, but were not easy, my boat partner persevered, wasing lining buzzers, crunchers etc but couldnt crack it, he had three to the boat and missed a couple more.

Fish moving from the harbour all the way around to savages, they responded better to minkies when the breeze got up slightly. I was on a cortland blue in the morning, and a floater in the afternoon. I also had a minkie booby on my top dropper, most of the fish came bow waving after the booby and then turned to take the minkie on the point.

Good fun, just could have done with a few more fish as it was a real grind.

Paul

Default Grafham update

Just for you Charlie...

Greeted with a flat calm, fish moving from Sailing club to Nature reserve......(i didn't go anywhere else)

Fast glass 16ft leader and a White & UV Hummungus on the point (with uv light bright body) and a Minkie booby on the dropper at 8ft....

Caught 3 on the Hummungus and had a lot of follows and taps....I think that the fish have seen a lot of flies and you need a ripple to not only cover more water but also get them taking the lures better...

Last hour I fished the dries at Valley Creek..Size 12 red bits and had another 3...just wished i fished the dries earlier...they really took them well !

total 6 fish for about 16 lb...(all fish 2.5lb - 2.75lb ish)

Nice afternoon and plenty of fish to be caught....

Others had caught well Gaynes.....all reported plenty of fish about

Prospects look very good for the weekend ..especially if there's wind !
