Default Bushylease 27 Oct 09

Blanked a couple of weeks ago at Bushy so back out today to get my own back on the trout.

Overcast and a light breeze first thing, no fish showing at all for first hour or so unlike previous visit. Worked my way up the opposite bank trying nymphs, damsels and montana's, nothing until 10am then a cracker of a brownie took a daddy in the margins right under my nose. 3 1/2 lbs and in perfect condition.

Wind picked up and made casting tricky. A few rainbows being taken on small lures stripped fast but not my flies. Wind dropped mid afternoon and fish started showing, took two rainbows, one on daddy other on white hares ear, just down from boat jetty. As I was leaving at couple of guys seemed to have worked it out casting off the jetty, 4 fish between them in 5 minutes.

I have blanked the last 2 times at Bushy, only started back fishing recently but tried everything!

I'm going to try and get out next Wednesday and try taking a boat out, never done this before, any recommendations?

Ended up at Bushyleaze again today, was going to give Farmoor 1 a bash but changed my mind at last minute.

Waited 5 hours for my first touch then landed a 2lb-er a minute later. Small white lure eventually worked. Lake got busy after lunchtime, I think a lot of the guys on Lechlade moved over the road after a tough morning. For the amount of people fishing there was less bent rods than I would have expected. Cats whisker and small lures seemed to be taking the fish that did get caught. A few frustrated fisherman when I left, watching a 150+ fish going in mid morning didnt help stir things up.

Dayzo, boats up in the wide part of the lake looked to be having good spells today but I wouldnt say better than the bank. The water is still quite warm and the fish arent as switched on as they usually are at this time of year. I've chatted to guys who have bagged up in a couple of hours at Bushy and they say it is fishing tough for the time of year so dont worry about the blanking.

Perhaps half day on the bank and half on the boat just for the experience would be worthwile.

I'm sure that my tackle and tactics need a lot of refinement but a small consolation is that at least it's not just me ;-o not wishing a bad day for anyone else of course.

Thanks
