Default Bewl Water

Hi guys and gals

Up until June this year this place was my regular haunt, however i am saddened to say that i have moved from the area now and no longer get to fish it as often as i would like.

I have been reading recently about the change of hands that has recently gone on and after reading the plan for the reservoir it sounds like it is going to go from really good to amazing.

I am off there this Saturday for a well deserved return trip and am wondering if anyone has fished it recently? I hear the fish are still relatively shallow?

Dan

Default Bewl

Dan,

I fished Bewl on Monday, Very windy and very sunny!
The water level is very low, around 45% volume (15 feet down) and the bank fishing is therefore dependant on finding somewhere without 2 feet of mud!
The boat fishing is dependant on finding the fish. They seem to be very spread out and I'd advise drifting.
During the past couple of weeks the fish have been about 2 to 3 feet down and feeding on fry. That said I've caught on small pearly PTN's on the middle dropper with Cats Whiskers and White Booby as the other flies.
Monday was the hardest day for a while, I had 4 fish, but the best was 6.12 that took a white booby, My client only had one but it was 4.14 so he was delighted
Slow intermediate line and figure of 8 retrieve was the most productive method, We had quite a few very soft takes too, I suspect they were tail nipping.
Cheers
