Thanks,

Default Grafham report

Grafham report for w/e 18/11/2009 is now on the Anglia website

Apparently it’s a fly fishers paradise which makes me feel really good as I was there last Thursday and caught 0 fish. How rubbish am I?

Admittedly as new fly fisherman I went up to the dam where it was blissfully quiet and nobody could laugh at my casting. Most of the other boats were shoaled up in front of the fishing Lodge.

I’m still not beaten though and no disrespect to Grafham – I always think I’m in with a chance there and I have even caught the odd fish. I just want to reassure any other newcomers that it’s still not easy whatever the report says!

Fished Grafham today, boats restricted to south half of lake, due to forecast wind of 20mph- which never materialised.Fished a drift along lodge bag and had seven fish, averaging over 3lb, to minkies on a slow glass, best 4 1/2lb.Don't feel bad about blanking Dwillis, my boat partner today hooked four, all of which got off.S**t happens. Lets hope the sport continues.

Thanks - I've no regrets about blanking - I still learn each time I go out. Wouldn't want any other newbies to be disheartened though as even when the sport is great it ain't necessarily easy, and nor should it be.

I'll definitely try a drift or two along the Lodge bank next time though ..
